Can this be called nihilism?

It can be indeed, and it shows why people make far too much out of the label. It's perfectly fine for most people, if there is no grand design outside of the plans we make for ourselves. Consider the founders of the United States. For whatever our faults may be today, there is no question that what the founders created was a truly impressive design. A self sustaining democracy, with liberty and freedoms not known elsewhere at the scale the nation would reach under that plan. I find the deliverance of humans from the bonds of class, state sponsored religion, and other limits and restrictions to be pretty meaningful. All planned by man.
