Describe the two events that generally cause tsunamis.?

1. Under sea earthquakes are the most common form of tsunami formation. The Earth is is constantly moving on large tectonic plates. When these plates move past each other, collide and or slide under one another, the results of these movements is earthquakes. These earthquakes temporarily produces a fluctuation in the sea level of a specified area. Waves quickly form as the displaced water tries to recapture equilibrium by filling the vacuum pockets that these prior events caused. 2. Landslides are also another common form of tsunami formation. When large rockfalls, ice falls, or underwater landslides takes place, this is enough movement to generate water displacement, vacuums and sea levels to form and create tsunamis.
