Can someone please explain to me what Nihilism in Black America means?

Philosophically, Nihilism tends to mean a belief that there is no point to life or in following any of the conventions of society. With that in mind, I would say that Nihilism in Black America would be in reference to a perceived lack of interest in societal conventions that would result in African Americans not partaking in the "American Dream." I would really need to understand the context to give a more detailed answer.
